Professional - Inspector General of Police, Chandigarh

(Indian Express, 3 May 1999)

A new word has been added to Chandigarh vocabulary: Bedi-Fication. Think of it as beautification on top field for an example of Bedi-Fication, just look at the sector 26 subzi mandi.
Earlier too, encroachments on the roads were removed, but now, not only are encroachments gone, but previously "invisible" parking lots emerged and became actually functional.
Traffic Cops previously conspicuous by their absence now patrol the area. Four or five men have been put on duty at the market; one mans a public address system warning people not to park in wrong places and two others do the challenging. The crane has been much in evidence, with the result that the drivers, are rapidly learning parking discipline.
