Public Police Co-ordination

Police on crime detection
(The Highlander, Aizawl 25 July 1990)

Aiz July 25. The police public coordination is understood  to have yielded encouraging results in detection of crime in Aizawl and other places.
During the  past few days the  police had arrested a drug  addict and auto-thief  at Tuikhuabtiang. Also four young drug addicts,  drop  outs  of  school belonging to  the age group of  14-16 were  detected and brought to police station by VDP President Mr Zachhunga of Ramthar for legal action.  From  these young drug addicts, it was learnt that they have been using certain drugs  purchased from a medical store near Aizawl Power House.  The  young boys  are to be  prosecuted under section 27 of NDPS Act if they refused   to  be treated at the de-addiction center.
The  Police  Department is of the view that control over drug addicts will help bring down crime in Aizawl.  Police urged medical stores not to sell drugs  without proper prescription by qualified doctors, and
the parents and teachers to ensure that their school going children did not play truancy.
