Long before she became famous for her work as a Police Officer, Kiran Bedi née Peshawaria was hitting the headlines on the sports page for her achievements on the tennis court. Her father Prakash Peshawaria, an excellent tennis player himself, trained all his daughters to excel at the game. Kiran and her younger sister Reeta won many titles together. Anu, the youngest of the sisters, represented the country at Wimbledon, Asian Games, Universiad and won the National Championship thrice. She was ranked India's No. 1 for a number of years.

Won the first-ever women's festival sports title for Delhi in 1976 bagging three gold and two silver medals with her younger sister Anu Peshawaria.
